Tips for Use and Care of Your Silicone Spatula Gift Set
Use mild non-abrasive cleanser on your silicone spatulas. We have found that since food and odors don’t tend to stick, food is quite easy to rinse off.
We don’t recommend using the dishwasher, because the handles are made of eco-friendly and durable bamboo. Bamboo can be dried out and become brittle with the high heat and soaking it gets in a dishwasher, so avoid doing it. And for the same reason, it is best not to leave the handles soaking in water for extended periods of time. (But if you did, let them air dry.)
Instead, take care of your bamboo handles so they stay fresh and smooth by oiling the handles from time to time. You can use mineral oil, coconut oil, even vegetable or olive oil. Just lightly rub a small amount of oil on, and then wipe the excess off. Some folks recommend doing this weekly, but we think you can easily gauge when they are looking dry and do it only on occasion. Your bamboo handles will last for many many years with this simple trick.
Keep the spatulas away from direct flames to avoid damage. The silicone heads are heat resistant up to 450° F, but flames would be much hotter and would permanently damage them. And of course the handles would easily burn, but we figure you already guessed that one!
Finally, don’t use sharp utensils on the spatulas. It could cut and damage them.
All that being said, these spatulas are really fun to use in the kitchen. We’re sure you’ll find yourself smiling from time to time when you look at them. And guests will too, when they come to visit your kitchen. Plus these spats make a colorful addition to our somewhat boring kitchen tool holders!
About the bow: Just in case you wondered about the bow, we have a video here that shows how the bows get pulled open. It’s really easy, and definitely better than risking a puffed bow getting damaged in shipping.
