Tips for Use of Your Silicone Lids

For best suction, ensure the lid and container are dry. They can slide around when moist. But even moist, they still work well as covers, especially for pots and microwave cooking.
For storage in fridge, choose a lid closest to actual size of container. Extending out over the edge can cause them to be bumped off in time. Also, for this reason, we would only recommend use in freezer for short cooling cycles, like cookie dough, as opposed to long term freezer storage.
The lids can get quite warm and seal in steam when cooking with stove, microwave or oven, just like any top, so be sure to use mitts or tongs when removing them to avoid burns.
These lids are intended for all smooth rimmed containers. However, if you have bowls or pots with pour spouts or extended handles, you might still be able to use them if you use one large enough to extend out over the entire edge. We have found this works in the microwave, and often the lid still suctions down while steaming veggies, but is venting while cooking.
You can even use these lids on square containers if the lid extends beyond the rim on all edges.
Although with a tight suction seal you usually can lift the container with the lid (and that’s fun!), you shouldn’t when it’s full. Save that trick to surprise your friends!

Care of Your Lids

Use mild non-abrasive cleanser when washing. Also, we have found that since food and odors don’t tend to stick, they’re quite easy to rinse off. But, just like plastic wrap or foil, it is best not to have the lids sit directly on the food when cooking or storing.
Keep the lids away from direct flames or heating elements to avoid damage.
Don’t use sharp utensils on the lids. It could cut and damage them.
Plastic and silicone products will show hard water stains, so be sure to dry them immediately after washing.

      I would like to know if you can use these silicone lids for sealing instead of the ball canning lids. If so how do they seal

      Ball Jars are designed for Long Term Storage and require proper handling, they are great for canning. Silicone lids would not be an appropriate substitute for that. Silicone lids are great for shorter-term storage and work great as a substitute for plastic wrap or foil. They also can be used in places where plastic wrap cannot, like on the stove or in the oven.

      Can I cook with the silicone lids in the oven 300 degrees?

      Yes you can. They are safe for cooking and food storage from -40F to 450F
