We’re always looking for fresh ways to delight and impress our guests at special occasion meals. In our last post we covered adding warmth to your table using our lovely silicone lids, but what else can you do? You could decorate the lids themselves. There’s lots of creative variations, as shown in the attached photos. Here’s a few examples:

  1. Add a bow. Wire ribbon is the easiest to work with because it molds and forms so easily. Our interlocking, easy-grip handles range from 1/2″ to 3/4″ tall, so if you are using a wider ribbon, just fold it to the approximate height before wrapping the handles and tying a bow.
  2. Add a decorative item, such as a floral piece, a few wisps of fir or pine, or colorful leaves (real or silk will work).  Just pick ones with a slender stem that is flexible. Use craft wire or gardening tape to wrap the stems together, and then continue to wrap the tape or wire tight around the handle. Finally, wrap the base with ribbon for a finished look.
  3. Tie on a festive ornament or party favor that suits your party decor.  For example, if it is a baby shower you could tie on a little plastic rattle or baby pin. A wedding shower would look festive with a silver gift box or wedding bells. A Christmas dinner could have any ornament you choose that matches with your theme or color scheme. Just loop these through thread or ribbon and tie to the handle. Or wrap the handle with ribbon, then hook the ornament on.

Just remember to remove the decorations before washing or cooking with your lids because these adornments can’t handle that, even if the lids can. And avoid using things that could fall into the food, like glitter or small artificial berries. Keep it food safe.

The whole idea here is to have fun making it festive. They’re also tips the whole family or friends can do as a craft activity, everyone getting to show off their creation.  So enjoy your lids and have fun with family and friends on all your special occasions ahead.

If you have any other ideas or designs you’ve come up with we’d love to have you share them below or post them on our Facebook page. And if you want another set for yourself or guests, visit our Amazon page.
