I’ve had my own “secret” recipe for dip passed down through the family for generations.  I love knowing I can bring it to any party, picnic or barbecue and it will be unique, a pleasant surprise, and gobbled down with guiltless pleasure.

I remember as a child learning how to make it from my great aunt as my mother watched in awe. Everyone liked it, including the kids!  And it was easy to make from everyday things in the frig, so what more could you ask for?

It’s become our holiday and “dip night” favorite that readily competes with our beloved onion dip for first-one-gone. So, after much urging, I’ve agreed to share the recipe. It’s so good and tasty yet so healthy that every Mom and party goer will enjoy, because, believe it or not, the base is cottage cheese, but with a delightful flair!

It’s best to use high quality ingredients to ensure it is full flavored and creamy, so go the distance and use top brands for the cottage cheese and mayo.  And of course, in the heat and outdoors, as with all dips, be sure to cover with a good lid like our Silicone Lids that will block the sun and bugs yet be easy to remove by guests.

I’m sure you will enjoy it and hope you find yourself making it often. After all, who can feel guilty? It’s only a scrumptious twist on our healthy, high protein cottage cheese – sort of a “pretend” junk food!

MOM'S GARLIC DIP

(It's actually Great-Great Aunt Mildred's recipe! It’s been passed down orally generation to generation.) The amounts are flexible... simply adjust for your taste. Caveat: always use quality ingredients and skip the "low fat" versions to achieve a creamy, full bodied flavor.)
Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
Course appetizers, snacks
Cuisine American
Servings 8 people

Ingredients

  • 16 oz Knudsen Cottage cheese standard, not low-fat
  • 1/2 cup Best Foods Mayonnaise
  • 1/8 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder (I usually just coat the top before stirring)
  • 1/4 tsp Paprika

Instructions

  • Mix together all except paprika, starting with 1/3 cup mayonnaise and adjust to dip consistency, as needed, with additional mayo.
  • Sprinkle with paprika and you are done!
  • Cover and refrigerate for about an hour or more, ideally, (but not required) to let the garlic seep into the mix.
  • use it to dip with chips or veggies

Notes

IMPORTANT:  The longer it sits, the more garlicy it gets, especially if it sits overnight in the frig. So if it gets too strong or thick just add a bit more mayo to tame it.
ENJOY! And let me know how you like it!
